Stay connected

Pierce Law offers lifelong opportunities for Alumni to remain active within the Pierce Law community. If you are interested in any of the below opportunities to stay connected with Pierce Law, please contact the Alumni Office, alumni@piercelaw.edu, or call (603) 228-1541 ext. 1151.

Alumni Office

  • We have an active alumni referral program. Inform the Alumni Office of changes to your name, address, e-mail, phone numbers and employer, as well as areas of expertise, using our easy Alumni Record Update form.
  • Register and update your information in the online Alumni Directory. Make certain your contact information and areas of practice are up to date to ensure accurate access for alumni referrals.
  • Inform us of your personal news, career advancements, and other important news, so we can include you in the Class Notes section of the PIERCE LAW News for Alumni and Friends publication.
  • Help organize and sponsor alumni receptions and events in your area; attend alumni events in your area.
  • E-mail alumni@piercelaw.edu with suggestions about alumni programs or alumni benefits.

Academics

  • Externships: Offer to assist faculty with externship placements. We are placing about 80 JD students and a number of grad students each year in externships. If you are interested, please contact Ellen Musinsky at emusinsky@piercelaw.edu.
  • Internships abroad: JD students have expressed interest in internships abroad including China, Hong Kong and Japan. Alumni can help make this happen.
  • Moot Court: Volunteer to serve as a judge or reviewer of Pierce Law's annual Moot Court student competitions.
  • Assist the Curriculum Committee in design and regular review of the curriculum. Provide advice on the subjects and skills Pierce Law should be teaching students preparing for various types of practice, including providing feedback on practice area-specific curricular guides for students. Propose classes you think Pierce students need. Help keep Pierce Law on the cutting edge of law education.
  • Serve as an attorney mentor in our Student Pro Bono Project: a partnership with the NH Bar Association where our students are assigned to assist NH attorneys with pro bono cases they have accepted through the Bar's pro bono program.
  • Volunteer to participate in the Daniel Webster Scholar Honors Program by offering to review student work, come to particular classes on discrete topics, and make externships available. If you are interested, please contact John Garvey at jgarvey@piercelaw.edu.

Admissions

  • Help market Pierce Law programs and refer potential students to Pierce Law. Make available Pierce Law admissions materials to students in your area schools. Encourage talented students to visit the campus and the Pierce Law website.
  • Assist admissions officers during regional visits.
  • Volunteer to interview prospective students when admissions officers cannot be available.

Career Services

  • Update Career Services about your career successes that we can share with students to provide them with examples of possibilities once they leave Pierce Law.
  • Inform the Career Services office about internships and employment opportunities in your company, community, or city.
  • Register with and search the Career Services Job site at www.easelaw.com/piercelaw.
  • Participate in Career Development workshops, events, and conference call career chats.
  • Volunteer to participate as a guest lecturer or panelist for a class or student program.
  • Mentor a student or new graduate.
  • Provide information about your areas of professional practice for alumni referral requests: Alums practicing in various parts of the world often need legal services in other parts of the world.

Development/Philanthropy

  • Donate to Pierce Law. Make a contribution online.
  • Contribute to special program/scholarship fundraising efforts.
  • Help solicit funds from classmates and associates in support of Pierce Law.
  • Volunteer to help with fundraising phonathons.
  • Offer to serve on the Pierce Law Development Committee.

Governance

  • Pierce Law may request Alumni to serve on Advisory Committees, the Dean's Leadership Council, or the Board of Trustees. We hope that when asked, you will consider giving your time and expertise in this service.

Institutional Advancement

  • Serve as a committee member for the Golf Tournament and/or the Annual Public Interest Coalition Auction.
  • Attend commencement, and special events on campus. Play in the annual golf tournament.
  • Participate in Pierce Law's Annual Bruce Friedman Community Service Day (always scheduled in mid - late October).
  • Keep informed about all that's going on at Pierce Law. Promote Pierce Law in your community, workplace, and with prospective law students.
  • Inviting Pierce Law Faculty to deliver presentations.
  • Consider how Pierce Law could partner with any institution you are involved with [note: many of the joint ventures we do are suggested by alums.]

Library

  • Maintain an active Attorney Membership with the Law Library.
