Entertainment Law Society

Realize your dream as an entertainment lawyer at Pierce Law

The purpose of the Entertainment Law Society is to promote an understanding and appreciation of the legal structure of the motion picture, music, and theatrical industries.
The Entertainment Law Society intends to familiarize law students with the intellectual property rights and contractual relationships between the media producers, distributors, and authors of these industries as well as the deal making and advising aspects of practice in the greater entertainment field.

The Entertainment Law Society hopes to accomplish this by sponsoring extracurricular programs such as guest lectures from experts in entertainment law, career planning seminars to aid students entering this field, and forums for interaction and communication between current students, faculty, and alumni from various backgrounds in intellectual property law.

International Intellectual Property Organization (IIPO)

The International Intellectual Property Organization (IIPO) is dedicated to educating the student body on the role of intellectual property in our global society, how nations around the world strive to protect IP rights, and how IP affects the quality of life and economies of those countries.

The International Intellectual Property Organization (IIPO) shall:

  • promote the study and understanding of international intellectual property;
  • provide a forum where Pierce Law students from a variety of geographical backgrounds can share their perspectives and experiences with intellectual property law;
  • analyze the similarities and differences between the varying intellectual property regulations found in countries across the globe; and
  • discuss the socioeconomic impact these regulations have on populations in both developing and developed countries.

International Trademark Association

The International Trademark Association (INTA) is a not-for-profit membership association of more than 5,500 trademark owners and professionals, from more than 190 countries, dedicated to the support and advancement of trademarks and related intellectual property as elements of fair and effective national and international commerce. Many Pierce law students take advantage of student membership to stay current on trademark law and developments around the world, network with trademark professionals and meet potential employers. Pierce students  join INTA for only US $25 per year and begin building their careers today! INTA Student members enjoy many benefits such as:

Licensing Executives Society (LES) Pierce Law Chapter

LICENSING EXECUTIVE SOCIETY LOGO

The mission of Pierce Law's student chapter of the Licensing Executives Society is to offer students access to the Society's national structure and to facilitate the mission of the national organization.

Licensing Executives Society is committed to advising the Society's membership, international and government bodies, the business community, and the public at large of the economic significance of licensing intellectual property.

Licensing Executives Society is also committed to advising the community of changes about laws in the U.S. and worldwide, which affect technology transfer and licensing of intellectual property rights.

The organization also supports student involvement in Society meetings and seminars, both national and regional. The student chapter hopes to bring national recognition to Pierce Law students through these networking opportunities.

Offering Pierce student members networking and career resources, The Patent and Trademark Office Society is for Patent and Trademark professionals and other interested individuals. Founded in 1917, the Society is today internationally recognized for its activities in the patent and trademark fields. From its inception, the Society has actively influenced the patent and trademark systems - promoting the systems' growth and well-being, recalling our rich heritage and promoting the social and intellectual welfare of our members.

  • Promote intellectual property issues across the student body of Franklin Pierce Law Center, to those of the New Hampshire bar, and beyond;
  • Bring together many facets of intellectual property, including Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights;
  • Provide a forum which promotes an open dialogue of current issues in intellectual property and exposes how these issues will affect the practice of intellectual property law in the future;
  • Continue to promote Franklin Pierce Law Center as an academic center for the study of intellectual property; and
  • Promote rapport between students and professionals in the intellectual property field.

Korean Student Association

PIERCE LAW HAS TRAINED HUNDREDS OF KOREAN IP PROFESSIONALS FOR DECADES

Pierce Law has been proud to train the IP professionals from Korea for decades. The Korean Students Association (KSA) was established to provide a vehicle for Korean students to share their customs, culture and traditions with the Pierce Law community. The KSA is also the organization that co-coordinates and sponsors the Lunar New Year celebration in which all Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese students share their country's customs and their culinary delicacies and celebrate the start of the new year through music and dance.

Namaste India

ARSHDEEP SIDHU - ITTI ALUM -  NOW AT UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA TECH TRANSFER OFFICE

Pierce Law has been proud to train the IP professionals from India for decades. Namaste India has roots as an informal gathering of Indian students at Pierce Law who enjoy bringing their culture to their classmates and friends. We strive to strengthen the connection between Franklin Pierce and India. Our events are designed to enrich the educational atmosphere of Franklin Pierce through awareness of our customs, samples of our food, lessons in our practices, and participation in our festivities. At the same time, we expand Pierce Law’s presence in India through our dealings with Indian alums as well as our previous, current and future employers and bringing our experiences to those in the IP niche.

Taiwanese Student Association

YU HUI SUNG IS ONE OF MANY PROUD IP PROFESSIONALS TRAINED BY PIERCE LAW

Pierce Law has been proud to train the IP professionals from Taiwan for decades. The Taiwanese Students Association (TSA) was established to provide a vehicle for Taiwanese students to share their customs, culture and traditions with the Pierce Law community. J. Reuben Clark Law Society (JRCLS)

IP STUDENT RICHARD ALLEN & FAMILY SUCCESSFULLY HEAD TO LAW FIRM LIFE IN 2009

IP Student Richard Allen and Family. The Allen Family is one of many proud LDS families pursuing an IP career at Pierce Law.

While JRCLS is not a dedicated IP student organization, a majority of its members are IP students and proud LDS graduates of Brigham Young University and University of Utah. The J. Reuben Clark Society (JRCLS) affirms the strength brought to the law by a lawyer's personal religious conviction and strives through public service and professional excellence to promote fairness and virtue founded upon the rule of law.
